While many CIS fighters evolved to be Imperial fighters IE: Droid Starfighter & Tri Fighter -> Tie Fighterīut also some of the larger class CIS ships evolved into being Rebel ships! IE: Providence-class carrier -> MC80 star cruiser The rounded design of the larger CIS ships seems to carry over to the design of many of the larger Rebel ships.
Many Republic Fighters evolved into Rebel fighters IE: ARC-170 -> X-Wing, Jedi Starfighter -> A-wing, Y-wing -> Y-wing But then some of the larger class Republic ships evolved to be Imperial ships IE Republic attack cruiser -> Star Destroyer. Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I've always wondered.
